Jory Golf ("Jory", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use our platform at jorygolf.com, the Jory Golf mobile application (available on iOS and Android), and related services.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Personal information — name, email address, and phone number provided during account registration or contact form submissions.
  • Club information — club or course name, address, and logo uploaded by administrators.
  • Performance data — handicap index, scores, round statistics, and event results entered into the platform.
  • Technical data — browser type, IP address, device information, and usage patterns collected automatically when you access the platform.
  • Device tokens — push notification tokens generated by your mobile device when you enable notifications in the Jory Golf app, used solely to deliver live scoring updates and event notifications.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and operate the Jory platform, including tournament management, live scoring, and leaderboard features.
  • Respond to contact requests and support inquiries.
  • Sync handicap data with Golf Canada through the GolfNet integration when enabled by your club.
  • Send transactional emails related to your account and events (e.g., event invitations, score confirmations).
  • Deliver push notifications through the mobile app for live scoring updates and event alerts, when you have opted in to receive them.
  • Improve the platform through aggregated, anonymized usage analysis.

3. How We Share Your Information

We share information only with the following third-party services that are necessary to operate the platform:

  • Resend — for sending transactional emails.
  • Vercel — for hosting and serving the platform.
  • GolfNet / Golf Canada — for handicap synchronization, when enabled by your club administrator.
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — for delivering push notifications to the Jory Golf mobile app. Device tokens are stored securely and used solely for notification delivery.
  • Apple Push Notification service (Apple) — for delivering push notifications to iOS devices through the Jory Golf app.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising or third-party tracking purposes.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on secure infrastructure. We protect your information using:

  • Bcrypt password hashing for all user credentials.
  • HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted between your browser and our servers.
  • Role-based access controls to limit data access to authorized personnel.

5. Public vs. Private Information

Event results and leaderboards may be accessed by spectators using a PIN-based access model. Club administrators control which events are publicly accessible and can restrict access at any time. Individual golfer profiles and contact information are never publicly accessible.

6. Your Rights

In accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request corrections to inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal and contractual obligations.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

8. Children's Privacy

Jory is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us so we can promptly remove it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice on the platform. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
